June 1994<\/th>\nThe museum opens (first chairman Eiji Toyoda, first director Kingo Saito).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
October<\/th>\nHis Majesty the Emperor and Her Majesty the Empress (the current His Majesty the Emperor Emeritus and the current Her Majesty the Empress Emerita) visit the museum.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
August 1995<\/th>\nToyoda & Co. Office Building moves from Nagoya City.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
September 1999<\/th>\nHiroshi Mase is appointed as 2nd Director.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
April 2002<\/th>\nHiroki Kato is appointed as 3rd Director.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
September<\/th>\nThe museum records a total of one million visitors.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
January 2004<\/th>\nNorihiko Shimada is appointed as 4th Director.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
January 2005<\/th>\nThere is a major extension and renewal of the Automobile Pavilion as part of the project commemorating the 10th anniversary of the museum.
\u30fbThe exhibition space of the Automobile Pavilion is extended.
\u30fbThe Materials Testing Center and the prototype plant is moved and restored.
\u30fbThe Special Exhibition Hall and Special Storage Room is built.
\u30fbThe library is moved from the Textile Machinery Pavilion.
\u30fbA section of the first Iron Working Shop is moved and reopened as the Creative Workshop.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
January 2007<\/th>\nA Steam Engine (made in 1898) is put on display.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

History of the Sako Plant (now the museum)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
1911<\/th>\nSakichi Toyoda invents the first automatic loom and establishes a prototype plant Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1914<\/th>\nA new spinning mill is opened to produce quality threads for testing on automatic weaving tools.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1918<\/th>\nThere is a reorganization into as a limited company named Toyoda Spinning & Weaving Co., Ltd.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1926<\/th>\nA general establishment meeting of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd. (Toyota industries Co.) is held at the administrative wing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1935<\/th>\n“Toyoda Principles” are designated and announced inside the plant in front of the bust of Sakichi Toyoda.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1937<\/th>\nToyota Motor Co., Ltd. is established, holding a general establishment meeting at the administrative wing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1942<\/th>\nFive spinning companies merge and are renamed as Chuo Boseki (Chuo Spinning) Co., Nagoya Plant.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1943<\/th>\nThe production of airplane parts is started.
Chuo Spinning Co. is merged into and owned by Toyota (its Nagoya Plant).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1944<\/th>\nThe plant becomes part of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd. (its Sako Plant).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
(Postwar)<\/th>\nThe Sako Plant shifts to production of textile machine parts (continues until 1958).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1957<\/th>\nToyota Motor Sales uses part of the building as a warehouse for supply parts (until 1981).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1961<\/th>\nNagoya Toyopet West Sales Office is opened in a corner of the premises.
Toyota Motor uses part of the building as Sako Laboratory (until 1974).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1974<\/th>\nToyota Boshoku manufactures seat cushion materials etc. (until 1982).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/section>\n
